We’re down to the wire folks!  Four teams, 2 episodes. Oh, and another non-elimination.

Lesson to future TAR teams…learn to drive a stick-shift BEFORE joining the show…day-of-race mangling of the clutch will get you behind, every time.

This week’s episode was mostly a catch-up and filler type one. The Beekman boys caught up to the other 3 teams, and there was a lot of filler and non-exciting film sequences and mild challenges. I guess they need all the thrills and tension for next week’s 2 hour finale.

Four teams fly to Barcelona, Spain.  Even with them chosing different flights, they all end up together, so what was the point?  The ferry wasn’t running until much later, 12 hours later, so even tho Team Chippendales, Trey & Lexi and the Twinies get to Spain first, the goat boys catch up while all wait for the ferry. Hints of production manipulation.

While the first 3 teams wait for Josh & Brent…errr, wait until the next ferry, they decide to spend the day at the beach and just relax.  They splash, they frolic and while waiting in the ferry waiting room they are glad to see the boys catch up…because now they know that Abbie & Ryan were indeed eliminated.

All four teams board the ferry and are off to the island of Palma De Mallorca. When they arrive they get cabs and make their way to the place where the clue is. They had to wade through a sea of creepy devil-costumed fire dancers to obtain their next clue.

They will head to the Manacor (hometown of tennis pro Rafael Nadal) and the ROADBLOCK, “Who wants to get smashed?” (One team member has to return 20 tennis serves from a single bucket of balls to complete it.)  However, for the first time this season, they will not be taking cabs or buses or trains to the next stop but they will drive themselves. Easy, right? Well for Jaymes  & James and Trey & Lexi it is. They get to the tennis ball courts quick and easy.

As for the Twinies, Natalie & Nadiya, not only did they get lost, neither knew how to drive a car with a manual transmission…a stick shift. Who dahell signs up for The Amazing Race after all these years and not one of a team has at least taken driving lessons with a stick? This has to be Karma coming to bite them in their money-stealing butts. If only that foolish lapse of preparation would actually cause them to be eliminated at the end. Remember, I said it was a non-elimination round tonight.  Of all nights!!

Meh…after a lot of bucking and clutch grinding, the girls make it to the tennis courts. Team Chippendales and Trey/Lexi have already moved on to the next clue. Although, the Beekman boys are still attempting to get their 20 balls in bounds despite Josh’s decision to do the challenge with his twisted ankle. Really now. You twisted your ankle but you chose to do tennis.  Someone didn’t pack their common sense.  Whatever.  Josh & Brent beat out the Twinies and head out in third.

Now everyone makes their way to the Caves of Campanet. They must traverse thru the caves listening for the sound of strumming guitars. Find the two guys strumming and get the next clue.  The clue is the DETOUR.

DETOUR = ‘Spin it’ or ‘Bull it’. Jaymes & James and Trey & Lexi agree to follow each other to ‘bull it’, but the Chips think they should take the freeway, Trey thinks they must turn right.  So they end up going their own way, each thinking they are right. Well, Team Chippendales just happens to pass the ‘spin it’ location and decide to do that instead.  Trey & Lexi end up at ‘bull it’ alone.

In ‘spin it’, teams must climb a several hundred year old windmill and reattach two of the fins. Jaymes & James fly thru this challenge and get their fins attached right away. Then it’s off to the PitStop for them.

In ‘bull it’, teams must put on a bull costume. The ‘head’ end cannot see and must be directed by the ‘tail’ end (the person in the rear has their head sticking out thru the tail section to see where they are going. Then they must trot in tandem past 8 matadors with the rear end yelling ‘left’! ‘right’! ‘turn’! “I can feel your butt under here’! .. ok, I made that last one up. After the eighth matador , they must aim for a target which when head butted, releases a dummy matador into the air.

Trey & Lexi were doing real well. Lexi in the head, Trey in the rear barking out directions. They zip thru the 8 matadors but instead of carefully butting into the 9th target, they plow right thru it, knocking it over and…shreeeeeek, Lexi broke a nail…she’s bleeding. Tears. Sobbing. Shrill whimpering. (more Karma? They did share the money the Twinies stole). After the commercial, they trade spots in the bull costume and again whip thru the course and this time pop the target correctly. It’s on to the PitStop for them now also.

We’re made to think Jaymes & James would hit the pad first, but somehow Trey & Lexi get there first, win another trip, and Team Chippendales comes into the PitStop second.

Josh & Brent do ‘spin it’ and are getting their gear on when Nat & Nad grind their stick shifted car into the lot. The Beekman boys have done similar work like this on their goat farm. The girls are not the sharpest tacks in the box. The boys finish before Twinies, and the girls are shocked and make some rude comments about being beaten by gay guys. I flip the bird at my TV screen.

So, the goat farmers hit the mat third. They’re delighted, having been at the end so many times and now in the final leg.

Nat & Nad plop in last. Unfortunately (for us), it’s a non-elimination and dagnabbit, they stay in the race.

Next week is the 2 hour finale. One team eliminated in the first hour with the final 3 heading back to the finish line and collecting the $1 million prize.

For me, it’s between Team Chippendales and Trey/Lexi to battle it out.  What do you think?

This picture should give a clue to whom I think will win… heh
