At least two good things happened on tonight’s Amazing Race – the teams FINALLY get out of Bangladesh and we get to use numerous gratuitous pictures from “Get Your Sexy On”. Indeed.

James & Abba start the morning off opening their clue instructing them to head to a travel agency to book a flight to Istanbul, Turkey. Teams also get $100 for this leg of the race, which will lead to unscrupulous actions by some.
At the travel agency, while all were booking the same flight to Istanbul , James and Abba’s money fell out of their backpacks, was spotted by Nadiya & Natalie and scooped up. In a lame, half-hearted attempt to find out who dropped it (amidst the noise, Nadiya quietly asks “who’s money is this?”, Natalie shushes her, they giggle and say they will keep it. They are spotted by Lexi and Trey who agree not to spoil the Twinnie’s find, and get to split it with them. I expect that kind of action from the obnoxious Twinnies, but not from Lexi & Trey. Once James and Abba realized they’ve lost their money, they are forced to beg on the streets of Dhaka, finding some helpful locals who end up giving them money to continue on. As one generous man said “This is my country. You are my guest.” Karma has been good to the Rockers.
The Amazing Race is known for exposing viewers to countries, cultures and local flavor every season, and tonight Phil teaches us that Istanbul is the only city that is located in two continents: Europe and Asia. To highlight that little know fact, teams must take a taxi or the Metro subway to a Ferry terminal on the European side where they get a clue that tells them take the ferry to return to the Asian side. While most teams take taxis to the terminal, the Chippendales and Monster Truckers take the Metro, believing it to be quicker as not dealing with Istanbul traffic. James and Jaymes soon learn that wasn’t the best decision as a local on the train tells them that there is no traffic so early in the morning. That prompts them to get off at the next stop to hop a taxi. The Truckers see them depart but are convinced they are making a foolish mistake. Actually it gave the Chips a good lead over them.
Once off the ferry, teams find a Detour. “Simit or Scrub it”. In Simit, teams must balance a tray of Simits, turkish bagels, on their head and deliver specific amounts to 3 locations. Josh & Brent and Rob & Kelly take on the Simit challenge. The goat farmers, again, have no idea where they are going for the longest time. (Oh yes, Josh and Brent had to do the Speedbump before this, as part of not being eliminated last week for coming in last. They had to find an ice cream vendor and eat a two-scoop cone. And, oops, they goofed again doing this simple task. They went to the wrong vendor and had to hunt down the right one and eat another cone apiece)
‘Scrub it’ involves each team member getting an intense Turkish bath. Most commented on the joy of getting Bangladesh scrubbed off them. Massages, foot scrubs and the surprise of cold water greeted them all. Jaymes’ reaction to being doused in the cold water was comical. The attendant seemed to get a kick pouring a good dose of the chilly liquid into his shorts. Ryan became a fast fan of the attention when his feet were rubbed and beaten (which will explain the lead-off picture above). And of course all this bath activity gave us some good, wet body shots.
Now the Roadblock. “Who is ready to pour their heart out?” Whoever does this has to dress up in traditional garb and serve Turkish sherbet, which is a beverage. Once they’ve served 40 people and collected 40 lira, they get their next clue.
Lexi flies thru the task. Ryan, after a slow start, finishes second, followed by Rocker James in third, then Natalie, ChippenJames, Brent, and Kelley.
The final clue directs them to Savarona, which is a ship docked next to a park and it’s the Pit Stop for this week. The order of finish is…
1. Trey and Lexie, who win a trip to Australia
2. Abbie and Ryan
3. James and Abba
4. Natalie and Nadiya
5. Jaymes and James
6. Josh and Brent
7…last…Rob and Kelley…eliminated.
