As a long time fan of Big Brother I thought I’d take the time today to express my thoughts on Big Brother 15, it really has soured me on what was once a phenomenal game and social experiment. I honestly tried very hard to find something redeeming about this season, but there’s just nothing, nothing at all!
When the cast was first announced my immediate favorites out the door were Judd and Helen, in fact they were my pick for final two after scouring the net and watching and reading everything I could get my hands on. On my houseguest report card Judd scored a 16 out of possible 20 and Helen a 16.50. What in the hell happened?
Helen after her first taste of HOH power immediately turned into a crazy, delusional and power-hungry houseguest. Helen was so afraid to make a move without house consensus that it ultimately ruined her game.
Being sent to the jury house ruined Judd, he came back a mean and bitter person. In an effort to not be evicted twice he bought into the hate and vileness of Andy, Amanda, McCrae, GinaMarie and Spencer. He had a good thing going with Elissa, but he screwed the pooch by listening to the very people who orchestrated his first eviction.
Today either GinaMarie or Judd were evicted from the game, frankly I don’t particularly care who was sent packing. In the interest of seeing the extreme haters in the house lose to someone they all believe they can win against, I’d truly like to see GinaMarie in the final two. It’s my belief that GinaMarie currently has the five votes needed to win, Candice, Jessie, Helen, Aaryn and Elissa, simply because she was the one who sent Amanda packing. With 2 of the exterminators headed to jury, she’s almost certain to get their votes in the end, so even if Candice doesn’t throw her vote GinaMarie’s way she still wins. I also believe the only way GinaMarie doesn’t get Amanda’s vote is if GinaMarie is in the final two with McCrae.
Who should win Big Brother 15 you ask? Personally I’d love to see CBS donate the first and second place prizes to a reputable charity. But, since we know there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell of that happening, I think based strictly on game play Andy is the most deserving houseguest left.
I know many on Social Media and former house guests like Rachel Reilly say that being a floater isn’t a strategy, I disagree as I think Big Brother 4 winner Jun Song would. Jun floated and cooked her way to the final two and not since Jun has anyone floated their way to the end! Oh many have tried, Ronnie Talbot tried and failed because Russell Kairouz called him out for trying to play both sides. The difference between Andy and Ronnie, is that Andy was never caught. Sure, people knew he was playing both sides, but he played it off by only giving them a snippet of information and telling each side what he had said to the other.
What Andy has managed to do this season is the true definition of floating, he floated from side to side seamlessly, he didn’t just sat back while the bigger targets took one another out he had an active role in their evictions. When people were pushing for Amanda’s eviction, Andy didn’t agree, not because he was loyal to Amanda, it just wasn’t the right time for Andy and his game. As soon as the time came to get rid of Amanda to benefit Andy’s game, he not only voted her out but also helped orchestrate her nomination and eviction. As of today Andy is now occupying a final four spot and barring a McCrae HOH win, he’s likely to find himself sitting in the final three.
My hope for Big Brother 16 is that the rumors of Allison Grodner stepping down are true and that who ever replaces her breaks the casting mold they’ve been using forever. It’s obvious the mold of casting wanna be actors, actresses and models has failed them miserably. I’d also like to see a casting agency change too, hey if you’re going to break the mold why not dumped Kassting while you’re at it. You know who I think would be a phenomenal replacement, Doron Ofir Casting, he’s the guy who put the Jersey Shore cast together, just imagine what he could do for Big Brother.
While we’re making changes how about:
- Getting rid of the HOH, allow all the house guests to make their own nominations, those with the highest points are up for eviction. It works for other countries, it can work here too. Not to mention a lot of us diehard Big Brother fans watch and enjoy their nomination ceremonies so much more.
- To stop the gang mentality that we saw strongly emerge this year forbid the house guests from talking about nominations.
- Do away with “have-nots,” make the house compete as a whole for anything more than staple foods.
- Bring in some kick-ass comps instead of these tired, recycled year after year competitions.
- Oh and here’s a novel idea, how about actually enforcing the rules of the Big Brother game like every other country? Talk about nominations, the perpetrator receives a portion of the nomination votes he was going to give to another houseguest.
The list could go on and on, basically take what the we, your US audience enjoy about foreign Big Brother shows and incorporate them into Big Brother US.
The Big Brother 15 finale airs Wednesday September 18th at 9:30PM ET/PT on CBS.
