Former The Real Housewives of Orange County star Peggy Tanous claims in bankruptcy court documents that she is divorced from her husband Micah. Late this evening a copy of Peggy’s bankruptcy papers found their way into our e-mail inbox. In the March 7th bankruptcy filing, Peggy is attempting to declare Chapter 7 bankruptcy and lists her liabilities at $2.16 million, most of which include home loans and property taxes. Also listed is an additional $70,000 in credit card claims and $10,000 for a book contract. Who knew Peggy was writing a book?
Peggy lists the value of her home furniture and clothing at $550 each, $1,150 in jewelry and states she has no cash in the bank. Peggy claims to have a home in Irvine worth $840,000 and receives $2,500 per month in “non-court ordered” child support as assets. Tanous also claims she only earning $30,000 per year with month expenses of $3,200.
What struck me as odd in the filing, other than filing under all her of A.K.A’s. (Peggy Tanous, Peggy Colleen Farney, Margaret Colleen Farney, and Peggy Tyler), she initially claimed she was divorced. On April 11th she amended the filing from divorced to single. This claim of being divorced or single just didn’t ring as being the truth with me, so I began digging through her Twitter timeline. Based on tweets Peggy and Micah are still very much happily married.
TVFishbowl has confirmed that the couple attended the April 18th, Riviera Magazine Spring Men’s Bazaar hosted by Orange County powerhouse and Riviera publisher Chris Gialanella, also in attendance was Heather Dubrow current star of The Real Housewives of Orange County. If fact the former star tweeted about attending the event, calling it a date night with her husband Micah. Does not sound like a couple in the throes of divorce to me!
The we have these tweets from May 21st, June 1st and 3rd, these certainly do not look like the tweets of a divorced woman or a couple fighting to save their marriage.
One would think that if the couple were divorced there would be record of the divorce in Family Law Court of the Superior Court of Orange County, guess what? I came up with zilch, nada, zero. The only record of divorce is from 1999 when Micah divorced his then wife Kerry. Hmm, maybe they filed in LA County or San Diego County, guess what? No record in either county.
Either the couple has never legally been married or Peggy is attempting to defraud creditors by claiming she is a divorced single mother with little to no income. Wait a minute she has been tweeting about filming a new show, I guess they do not pay! This isn’t the first time the Tanous’ have had money issues, in 2001 they were able to modify their mortgage averting foreclosure of the home. As recently as January 2013, Micah was involved in a fraud lawsuit against Bank Of America, PNC Bank, PNC Mortgage and others in connection with their home mortgage, the case was dismissed March 1, 2013. According to court records Peggy was involved in a civil suit against the above named mortgage lenders back in 2011,that case was dismissed December 21, 2012.
Reviewing court documents it looks to me as if the Tanous’ are attempting to doge paying their bills by tying up the legal system, sure hope their creditors and the bankruptcy court are not monitoring Peggy’s Twitter time line, because she could find herself facing perjury charges and jail time. Making false statements on bankruptcy paperwork is done so under the penalty of perjury. The maximum penalty for bankruptcy fraud is five years in federal prison. The maximum fine for bankruptcy fraud is $250,000.
What do you think are Peggy and Micah trying to manipulate the system or do you believe The Real Housewives Of Orange County star Peggy Tanous is divorced & the filing of bankruptcy is legit? Sound off in the comments with your thoughts.
