Homeland ‘New Car Smell’ 21 October 2012

Saul visits Estes at his home and shows him the tape Brody had made when he was going to blow up the Vice President. I loved this. Eat crap, Estes!

What to do? Take down the small fish or go for the Big Dog (Abu Nazir).  As usual, Estes is worried about his job security as opposed to national security.  Thank it all for Saul.  “Jesus. She called it.” Yes, Carrie did.

Back at Brody’s house of secrets, the marriage is discussed. The trust is gone and Jessica tells him to pack a bag.  

Virgil and his brother-in-law are back! Time for some video set-ups and surveillance on Brody.  Carrie gets to play, but she has to play second fiddle to Peter, the head of the security team.  This show is at its best when all eyes are on Brody.  

Carrie and Brody have their first ‘accidental’ meeting in front of the CIA. Surprise! He sure is. They make nice and move on.  Brody is suspicious. So is someone else.  His  Marine buddy, Lauder, shows up drunk at Brody’s house of secrets.  He tells Jessica that he’s not leaving until he speaks to Brody.  He knows something’s not right and he’s getting to the bottom of it.  Of course Jessica calls Mike, the one man she’s been able to count on for over 8 years.  

Lauder spills his suspicions to Mike about Brody being responsible for Walker’s death as Mike loads him into the car. He’s three sheets to the wind, but Mike starts tracking what he’s saying.  

Estes apologizes to Carrie. That deserved a mention.

Brody checks into a hotel which is monitored and promptly hits the bar.  Man, I wish I knew what he was thinking. He dials his phone and Carrie’s rings.  He wants to “bury the hatchet for real” and asks her to meet him.

They shoot the breeze and Carrie tells him that she’s back on to reaching her goal. Getting Nazir.  Brody apologizes for calling Estes on her last season. Hey pays the tab with his room number and leaves.

Carrie calls command central and tells Peter and Saul that she thinks Brody ‘made her’.  They tell her to come back, but Carrie is Carrie.  She goes to his room.  She tells him all about his terrorist ties and the aborted bombing. Verbal jousting between them as he moves in closer and BOOM!

The door bursts open and the suits come in, throwing Brody to the floor. He’s cuffed and hooded. Carrie continues.  “You are a traitor and a terrorist and now it’s time to pay for that.”
