If you haven’t heard of Jodi Arias, then you’ve probably been living under a rock. But, just in case you have been living under a rock let me catch you up. Jodi Arias is charged with first degree murder as well as felony murder in the state of Arizona for the 2008 death of her “former” boyfriend Travis Alexander. Travis Alexander was found murdered in his apartment and instantly all fingers pointed at Jodi Arias as the perpetrator.
Travis Alexander was found dead with 29 stab wounds, his throat slashed and a gun shot to the forehead. I know, I know…you’re thinking how the hell is that “self-defense”? That would be a very good question, one which I cannot answer. In my opinion the defense “frucked” up taking the “self-defense” position. If I were on her legal team I would have suggested a plea deal of guilty to second degree murder. Reason being, from what I know of the case, the manner in which Travis was killed shows a crime of “passion”.
I have many questions about this case…such as the fact that photos were being taking of her dragging his body following his death and supposedly she was the only one there…how does that happen? Now you could say that she set the timer on the camera to do this but if that’s the case why did she not take the camera when she left, so she could revel in what she had done? Isn’t that what crazy psycho killers like to do? Relive the crime? So if she didn’t take the pictures, who did? Things that make ya go hmm.
It is said that Jodi was obsessed with Travis…kind of like a “fatal attraction.” There are reports that she would go as far as sneaking into his house at night unbeknownst to him and sleep on his couch. If true that is some creepy chit. It is Jodi’s position that she was Travis’ dirty little secret. Travis didn’t want others to know that he was continuing a sexual relationship with her. Oh and those two certainly liked to “do it” and there are pictures to prove it. Needless to say the relationship between Jodi and Travis could be viewed as unconventional, to say the least.
One could argue that it was because of this “twisted” relationship Jodi felt “abused” which is exactly what the defense team is attempting to do. I just don’t buy it. Like I said earlier, the defense team “frucked” up taking that position. In my opinion I believe it will do more harm to Jodi than help. I would like to think that the jury would be smart enough to see through that line of bull. But, you just never know…look what happened in the Casey Anthony trial.
Prosecution believes that they have made a strong case in regards to premeditation. They have shown the fact that she (Jodi) went to great lengths to hide the fact that she was traveling to visit with Travis. She drove ninety miles to rent a car, lied to the car rental place about what she intended to use the vehicle for, borrowed gas cans…still trying to figure out how that one fits in, changed her hair color, altered the license plates on the rental vehicle. Now one could probably explain each of those events and it would be believable, however, when looked at all together it doesn’t paint a very good picture for her. So I guess the question is, if you believe that it was “self-defense” how do you explain the above mentioned items? Now I realize that this can be viewed as circumstantial and lacking of a “smoking gun” but you have to admit that it doesn’t bode well for Jodi.

Great article Georgia!
Thanks Stephanie
) I really enjoyed writing it!!
This girl is so guilty of this overkill murder, IMO. I think she looked at Travis as the symbol of all her former rejections by men in her life. He was her last straw of being treated like a wh*re, at least in her mind.
I think the recent cross examination of the ex boyfriend with the son goes more for the prosecution in the sense that that relationship didn’t work out.
You could very well be correct. Thank you for reading and commenting.

Georgia, I love the way you write! You are welcome. I have been following this case on TruTV/HLN. I do absolutely believe that all her life, Jodi was a decent young lady. I believe that inside she wanted to be “good enough to be married.” I believe that marriage was her goal. I believe that after all the relationships that did not culminate in marriage coalesced into that one last straw. Considering how, as a professed Mormon, the young, virile and handsome Travis Alexander did indeed indulge in sexuality with her also in his mind made her NOT marriage material, as she willingly complied, sexually. I believe again that in her mind, he was the last one who was going to throw her away, and the high number of stabbings, the near severing of the head and the added gunshot was, in her mind, all the guys who used her and refused to marry her.
Again, when the defense put up the ex boyfriend, who was quite the catch, worked more in favor of the prosecution. Another good guy who did not marry her, even after they cohabitated.
Very valid points…which to me point to second degree murder but that’s just my opinion
I am not good at all about defining the degrees of charges — I totally trust you on that, Georgia! BTW, Happy Groundhog Day!
