Joyce Giraud Attacked By A The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Fan

Joyce_GiraudThe Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Joyce Giraud was attacked by a fan of the show on Twitter.

Apparently the fan has an issue with Joyce’s tagline “In Beverly Hills, they say you can never be too young, too thin, or too rich” during the opening credits of the show. The fan claims that the tagline is tantamount to Joyce supporting eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia.

Joyce responded to the tweet by releasing her private DM response.  I’ve never seen a Housewife on any franchise do this!

20140109-231321.jpg

This isn’t the first time Joyce has come under fire for her tagline. Joyce has claimed that she had no choice over her tagline while other Housewives claim that’s simply not true. When called out by others, Joyce claimed to have recorded several taglines and that she asked the producers not to use the one currently used during the shows opening.

If Joyce didn’t like the tagline why did she read the it? “They give you all these taglines, and you take them, and then they pick,” Joyce said. “Here I am as a newbie, playing ball and taping what you’re telling me to tape. But I’m asking you to not pick this, and you pick it.” Umm, that doesn’t answer the question!  The newbie playing ball comment also shows that Joyce is willing to compromise her integrity in exchange for fame!  What won’t she do to obtain the fame she thinks she deserves?

In true Joyce fashion and keeping with her storyline, she plays the bully card – “I was bullied as a young girl for these things you’re putting in my tagline: I grew up feeling ugly, feeling bad about myself for being too skinny,” Joyce explains.

I don’t know how much more of this perpetual victim I can take, Joyce is ruining the show for me.

Hey Joyce, if you didn’t like the tagline you should have never recorded it!  If you would have stood by your principles then the fans of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills wouldn’t be on the attack.

She isn’t the first housewife that has said Bravo gives them tag lines and chooses one to air, so I believe her. There are a lot of Brandi fans going after her on social media. One of the started a twitter account named “boycottjoyceg” which Brandi has commented on at least twice. I haven’t looked at the site since I found it after reading Brandi’s tweets one day. They also post links to RT Brandi stories. There is an abundance of hate out there, not just snark, on both sides.

    • julyol1972

Of course Brandi would comment on a site like that! With Joyce gone, she would have the younger, hotter, housewife label back, right?

    • Tre’s Twits aren’t Angelic

I really like your avatar pic. What a cutie your kit is.

      • Jennymckitty

She is a certified preowned cat from a BMW cat adoption event. Her previous owner gave her up after one month because she shed…who would have guessed that a mammal would shed. She is the friendliest baby kitty and loves everyone…gives lots of kitty kisses and does micro-dermabrasion on my face every night. I am so lucky I got to adopt her. Thanks!

    • http://TVFishbowl.com/ Ed B.

Jenny is correct the hate and snark comes from both sides. You have to ask yourself why people are so invested in reality TV stars?

  • DLister

I absolutely agree with Ed on this one. First, she signs up to be a part of this show and by that point she had to have known exactly what the show was about, and how any and all HWs are treated in the media and all-important blogosphere.

When it did come time to record a variety of taglines, if she really was against it, all she had to do was tell the production team that she refused to speak that particular one. They would have complied. But, she didn’t. Either she has no ability to consider repercussions of her actions, or she honestly didn’t care as much as she is now pretending to.

  • julyol1972

So she said a stupid tagline, so what? She apologized for it and the fan decides to call her a “bully’? what about that statement showed her being a bully? This is just another attempt by the Brandi Hit Squad on social media to get her off the show! It ain’t happening! They’ll get rid of Carlton and her boring storyline first before that happens.

At the end of the day, she makes the show more enjoyable that Miss Trashbox Glanville, and I’d rather watch her any day, than I would Brandi!

  • Tre’s Twits aren’t Angelic

“America” watches these shows, myself included (but that’s going to change momentarily).

American’s take a side and then they believe and write and argue their side (sometimes vehemently) because they feel that it is correct.

Bravo and every other conglomerate industry faction production team and executives of any “reality show” count on their “audience” picking a side to comment/blog/talk about, on various types of social media. They pull in huge bucks and laugh all the way to the bank.

That’s while every single one of these franchise shows “showcase” the creation of mob mentality blood feuds across all types of social commentary media.

Do you think those industry executives give a chrapp who is or isn’t feuding on these shows. You bet they do, because it translates to money in their pocket!

Bravo was just lucky, because on one particular show, they actually have a couple of folks that are likely going to get handed their own already twice eaten lunch, from the Fed’s no less! Now isn’t that a major paycheck!!

This other stuff of Joyce and Baby against Brandi and her foul mouth is just another trip to the bank.

    • WestCoastFeed

Yes, but what puzzles me is that they run basically the same story on each of the HW’s shows and fans still play along and buy into it. Why?

      • Tre’s Twits aren’t Angelic

The shows are filling a need. That need can take on any persona or form of connected existence. By that, I mean, there are plenty of folks who have a television and perhaps a computer. There are masses of people out of work who watch and then comment on these shows with each other.

The industry knows that if it works in one place it’s likely to work in another. So the draw is a successful repeatable scenario.

Watching and commenting on these shows, takes up time and gives a purpose to many people. It offers a “club” to become a part of. It equally offers friendships to be developed and nurtured.

Sometimes those friendships/relationships are based on healthy aspects of what are acceptable norms. Sometimes, and I’ll go so far as to say, many times those relationships are based on very unhealthy psycho sociopathic attitudes.

Either way, the need is there and it’s being taken care of in some form or allegiance to shows of this type and magnitude of human characterization.

        • http://TVFishbowl.com/ Ed B.

Tre is absolutely correct, that’s why the same “storyline” is played not just across the housewives franchise, but all of Bravo’s show. And it’s not just Bravo, look at Mob Wives, Sin City Rules, Preacher’s Wives and the lost goes on.

Watching these “stars” behave like idiots makes the average viewer feel good about their life. Unfortunately the last season of RHONJ has opened a lot of people’s eyes about just how scripted these shows are. Reality TV won’t go away, but we’re likely to see a change in manufactured storylines. People are getting tired of the constant fighting.

          • Jennymckitty

You are correct. I actually like happy shows.

            • WestCoastFeed

Me, too, jenny. I’m hoping the Manzo spin-off comes up to its promise of being fun and light hearted.

              • http://TVFishbowl.com/ Ed B.

That ain’t gonna happen, happy doesn’t sell! Look at all the wedding shows, they all included some major drama.

                • WestCoastFeed

But it works big-time for Duck Dynasty. I am counting on the other cable channels to try to copy their success (Without the bigot who is part of the show)

                  • Tre’s Twits aren’t Angelic

                    IMO, You’re correct.
All levels and attitudes of an audience can be mined till the mine is played out. It depends on the area or areas of a population group they choose to hit for a predicted target audience.

                  • http://TVFishbowl.com/ Ed B.

Have you taken a peak at the newest comment on the Brandi email post?

                • julyol1972

I’m looking forward to the Manzo show too myself! Hoping there’s one show without all the manufactured drama!

      • Tre’s Twits aren’t Angelic

The short answer to your question.
The industry knows that if it works in one place, it’s likely to work in another. So, the draw is a successful repeatable scenario.

        • http://TVFishbowl.com/ Ed B.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it or don’t reinvent the wheel is the attitude. Unfortunately for the networks & production teams that wheel is getting a little wobbly!

          • WestCoastFeed

The entertainment industry is filled with folks who have no new ideas and just bank on copying the success of others. Back when TV was just the 3 networks, they all felt they had to run westerns for a time, then we went through a series of cop shows, only followed by doctor shows.

  • WestCoastFeed

OT. Bergen dot com has photos of Danielle Staub and her beautiful daughters at a same sex marriage event last night in New Jersey. Danielle looks much the same and her girls are still lovely.

    • julyol1972

Danielle girls have always been beautiful. Somehow, even with her as their mother, they came out okay.

  • WestCoastFeed

When the Duchess of Windsor said it, everyone thought she was just being clever. Of course, the Duchess didn’t include “too young” when she said it.

    • murlut

Morning WCF. But I love to rattle the trolls at RT by not liking Joyce, omg they get furious. I have to admit, I do not like Joyce. I think she is a social climber who married a troll for his money. So far his money hasn’t opened the doors she wants so that’s why RHOBH but I am so over the whining and the oh poor me BS.

      • WestCoastFeed

Hi, murlut. I am so new to watching BH and have not seen anything much to either like or dislike about Joyce. But Brandi was so awful both in the episodes I had seen and in her blogs that I just can’t take her. In fact, the only cast member that I found at all interesting was Kim Richards. She can be very funny in her talking heads and I look more for humor than for feuds.

  • shayvoe

The only bully on BH is Brandi. But, since I’m not fond of the bully label, I’ll just say, the only person from planet trash on the show is Brandi, and that is all encompassing of all of her personality flaws.

    • WestCoastFeed

Since I haven’t seen her before this season, I figured that she must have done something good since I understand she was once very popular.

  • Birdie11

I’m sure the tagline was meant to be lighthearted, and somewhat tongue in cheek. People need to lighten up, and take things in the context they were given. I’m officially sick of the bully label, and now that we know that Joyce can stand up for herself, we need to put it to rest already! Brandi refuses to grow with the opportunities her mistakes bring, and that choice will ultimately be her downfall.

    • julyol1972

      Agree! Hi Birdie!

OT: I just got through watching the Project Runway All Stars finale. Did you watch?

      • Birdie11

        YES! What did you think?

        • julyol1972

Ohhhh, Korto! Always the brimaid, never the bride. I LOVED her collection. It seemed so wearable. That jumpsuit, the long yellow dress! *sigh*

Seth Aaron’s was visually stunning, and beautifully tailored, but Korto man! I sad! :(

          • Birdie11

I thought the UN thing was weird and forced. Yes, I liked hers best…I liked some of Seth A’s…but hated his styling. That dumb flippy top hair and big glasses, GAG. I liked how Koto captured her heritage and her styling was SO much better. I hated Alyssa’s dress…that was the worst piece of the nite LOL! You could tell Koto..was like ‘oh crap, not again.’

            • julyol1972

She looked crushed, but I think she’ll do well in Liberia if not here…her stuff was stunning! Totally agree about Seth A’s styling! Ego much, with the glasses? Anyhoo, loved his white dress, the red dress, and the black harness dress. Liked the yellow too, but not as much as Korto’s.

I wish Alyssa was a better dressed host, because she’s very articulate, but man she is a sucky dresser. Too frumpy!

              • Birdie11

That dress should have been on someone 20 years older, and I still would have hated it. The thing that says a lot about Koto, is that she’s quiet, not all that colorful, and still almost wins the whole thing. You know those producers go for drama with the cuts, and she goes sailing thru with no drama. or flamboyance. That long yellow dress was just delicious. And what about what Gail was wearing, speaking of frumpy!

                • julyol1972

The dress and the jumpsuit were both amazing. What I loved most was that she did tribal/African print without using it the typical Kente print. She choose quiet, beautiful, prints that reflected her, and her country! And even though the judges didn’t like it as much, I LOVED her white eyelet dress with the semi-peplum. I thought that dress was so nicely done.

                  • Birdie11

I actually liked that one too…the sculptural aspect was nice against all the flowy pieces. The print was pretty. I think the fabric looked a little flimsy…maybe it didn’t show as well on the runway (sort of) as it did on TV. The new Tim Gunn show looks interesting…

                    • julyol1972

I’m excited for Under the Gunn too! Plus, he’ll be featuring some of my favorite past contestants, like Enya, and Mondo.

                    • Birdie11

                      The name is snappy!

                    • julyol1972

Which bodes well for viewership, and possible longevity! Fingers and toes crossed!

Looking forward to the reunion next week!

                    • Birdie11

                      I didn’t know they were doing one…cool.

                    • julyol1972

                      I know right?

  • yenta1957

I am so done w/ the term “bully”.

    • julyol1972

Me too! Brandi behavior is exactly that to me, but constantly repeating the word like a freaking parrot just annoys me now.

      • yenta1957

        Where IS everyone?
I finally get some down time + can’t find anyone to “play w/”.
Lol…I sure sound like I’m whining!

        • julyol1972

I feel like whining too! I can’t find any playmates either! And with all these great stories to ruminate over too! Was talking to Birdie below about Project Runway!

          • yenta1957

            waah ! I don’t watch Project Runway.

SERIOUSLY OT….my kitchen’s turned into a cross between Chemistry Lab + Cutthroat Kitchen. Have been coming up w/ some “interesting” recipes…….

            • julyol1972

Ummm, that sounds dangerous! Hope you have a hazmat suit ready, and/or a fire extinguisher!

              • yenta1957

No need. have the family…tell them to name the dishes after they try them…+ I’m my worst critic.

                • julyol1972

Now that sounds like a lot of fun,! The names they came up with must be a hoot!
