Make An Ass Out Of A Donkey – RHOA S5, Ep13 Recap

This week starts with the two booty videos preparation going head to head. Kenya hit the gym, making sure her booty was tight. Phaedra, on the other hand, just wanted to make sure she looked good on the cover in a green spandex one-piece. She had nailed the photography session, without nailing down a video routine.

Pageantry PrepCynthia is entering the pageant world. Making between $75 and $1500 for entry fee, hair makeup, talent and photo submissions is a pretty lucrative industry.

Kenya invites Porsha to lunch (even though she doesn’t like the woman). She thinks Phaedra is poisoning her, not her own actions. Oddly, she doesn’t see anything wrong with waiting to your guest arrives then making a point to ask if the knives should be removed from the table. Looks like Kenya is poisoning her relationship with Porsha all by herself. Why is Kenya blaming Phaedra for her poor relationship with Porsha? After Porsha says that she doesn’t want to hear about Phaedra, Kenya insults Porsha for not wanting to stay and continue the conversation. Porsha calls Kenya “ashy”. Kenya correctly points out that they make lotion for that (in her interview, not woman enough to say it her face), but then insults just as easily correctable hair and makeup. Good comeback Kenya – late and weak.

NeNe needs to decorate and furnish her LA house. I guess Kenya’s hand-me-downs weren’t enough.

Cynthia invites Porsha to help with the pageant planning because her non-profit is going to sponsor the pageant. Porsha is perfect for a pageant. Cynthia hasn’t lined up any contestants yet, so needs to look at a smaller space. The Bailey Agency presents Miss Renaissance 2012. The crown is the crux of the pageant – the more elaborate, the better. Porsha is being roped into helping plan the entire pageant, even offering to sing.

Just a little Porsha MelodyThe girls get together, without NeNe and Kenya and with Porsha’s friend in attendance. Phaedra clarifies that she had her plan in place but was only giving Kenya a chance. Phaedra insists that Kenya is crazy, and Porsha supports it by telling her about the weird lunch. Porsha starts to show off her singing voice (Mary J. Blige and Beyonce, with a touch of Rihanna). But first she has a cold, then she drinks some water, then some tea, and suggests standing up, only to be cut off by the belly dancers. I guess we’ll have to wait to see/hear Porsha sing.

NeNe meets with her acting coach, Lee, giving her accolades for her work. Lee explains the acting process, reading each character not as a race, but as a person, and NeNe has to find a way to bring the character to life with her own

Cynthia is messy. She started to talk about Phaedra after saying that Phaedra’s snide comments were uncalled for. Kenya and Cynthia talk about Phaedra while Kenya plays golf and Cynthia watches. The crème rises to the top, so we’ll see who the crème of the crème really is.

Kandi and Todd prepare the house for a future child, Kash. They already hired an interior decorator to get it ready, even though she’s not pregnant. One step at a time, Kandi, one step at a time.

Kenya meets with her “yes, girl” Miss Lawrence for drinks. Now, Kenya is defensive because of Phaedra’s comments, understandably. They are gossiping over what he-said, she said. Kenya’s not really woman enough to confront Phaedra and discuss their business issue, which she feels is the root of the issue. Kenya doesn’t want to lie down and take it, but if it’s not true, it will all work itself out. Truth really is the best revenge – and if Phaedra’s lying or committing slander, the truth will come out.

Congratulations to NeNe who introduced a new shoe to the ShoeDazzle line. She donated all the proceeds to Saving our Daughters, a domestic violence charity. All of the women show up in support of the introduction of the shoe. Well, not all women show up to support. One woman in particular shows up to show out.

Kenya's Booty PadsKenya wears Phaedra’s beach outfit with a big white hat and butt pads. I’m not sure what she’s trying to say, but it’s definitely not showing that she’s sane. Miss Lawrence is supporting this embarrassment. NeNe is a better woman than I. I would not be laughing at that spectacle. She’s yelling at the top of her lungs talking about how much of an alcoholic she is. There’s a time and place for everything and this certainly is not it! There is definitely something wrong with Kenya.

Wait, now Kenya is saying that she hasn’t thrown shade about Phaedra. Kenya says she doesn’t believe that Phaedra’s body is good enough to produce a video, then why would she want to put her name behind the project? A couple of episode ago, it was good enough to throw a distribution deal, and make hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars. Now, it’s not? Which one of you is the bigger liar? What kind of production company copies an idea of someone who comes to them? Sad that this is how Kenya has to make a dollar.

What do you think? Is Kenya just a prudent business woman or was it wrong?

  1. Shannon says:

Phaedra is supposedly a good attorney-you would think that she would have copyrighted the “donky booty” idea before discussing the idea with Kenya or anyone else for that matter. And why doesn’t Phaedra know that Kenya is not a successful producer? Doesn’t Phaedra Google???
