I had the pleasure of speaking with Alicia Jacobs today. She is one of the stars of the new reality show, Sin City Rules, on TLC.
Reality TV! It can be a blessing or a curse. What drew you to Sin City Rules? What did your friends and family think when you were cast ?
There were two reasons why I tried out for the show. One is that Las Vegas is my home and I love it. Many productions don’t depict an accurate perspective of Vegas and the producers wanted to show the real Las Vegas. The second reason is that in my 18 year career on television and in front of the camera, I had never done reality shows, though I’m a huge fan. I was curious about the process as a journalist and interested in new experiences. Some people have gone on to do amazing things from a reality show and opportunities can come from this. Evolution Media’s track record is phenomenal.
As for friends and family, for the most part, they thought I was crazy for doing this. My colleagues were wary and concerned that it would not be a good fit because my personality is not hysterical. Now that show is airing, some have changed their mind.
Now that filming is over, with how many cast members are you still friendly?
I’ll say about three of them.
Lana Fuchs took to Twitter before the show even aired to make personal attacks on you. Were you surprised by this?
I was shocked. I have never seen grown women behave this way, especially the true elite. I was absolutely floored. She started tweeting about me in August before production began.
*Just one example of many attacks brought upon certain SCR cast mates and re-tweeted. See our story about that.*
Are you confident that the real Alicia Jacobs will be shown to viewers this season?
I’m proud of everything I did on the show. Emotional things happened, but I didn’t do anything I regret. I gave Evolution 100% of my character.
Your cast mate, L. Fuchs also says you were fired from your job.
Absolutely not. If that were the case, I’d be the first person to get fired from a job and show up at the station.
I know you have four dogs and are an advocate for animal rights. Would you like to share more about that and the other causes you support?
NSPCA/ASPCA/Humane Society. I’ve done pet adoption segments on air for years. I love helping with the homeless pet population which is a big problem in Vegas due to the home foreclosures. I’ve been involved with the American Cancer Society and the Nevada Cancer Institute since my pageant days. I lost a very close friend several years ago to cancer after a 1 1/2 yr battle. I’m a passionate proponent of gay rights and gay marriage. [In the premiere episode of Sin City Rules], I was a judge for the fashion show at the Aid For Aids of Nevada (AFAN) event.
You’ve been right there with movers and shakers as a reporter and friend. This would make for a great story. Is there a biography in your future?

Yes there is. My colleagues have always told me to take keeps notes about my experiences. I’ve seen the best and worst in celebrities and people. I just have to decide when the time is right.
I’m looking forward to having your fans speak with you live in the very near future here at TVFishbowl.

Does Alicia have a mic in her hand? Does she report then take pictures with the famous and rich? It looks like it to me… Just saying…

I have to comment on another perk that has me upset with Alicia… I was born and raised in Vegas, as Alicia knows, I have many friends in the media, as Alicia knows… Why would Alicia threaten to ruin someone’s reputation with the little power she holds as a independent entertainment reporter? Alicia so boldly threatened and said on Sin City Rules and national TV, “I will destroy that women with one phone call, she better watch out”! To me this is very unprofessional, and it makes the media untrustworthy.. I have talked to several of my friends who are in the media here in Vegas and California and they cannot believe she would stoup so low. Sorry Alicia just being honest with you…
By the way, I think you and Lana are friends, and you started this Lana and Alicia thing to gain show ratings way before the show aired. Because none of it make sense.
