You may not have caught Nashville yet, but if you’re a country music fan, you may want to tune in on Wednesday nights. One thing I didn’t expect from the new series was the original hits it would churn out that have landed on the iTunes and Billboard’s Hot Country Songs charts.
As of this week, over 700,000 downloads have been bought to a net tune of $1 million for Big Machine Records. Not bad for a new show highlighting original music.
This could mean a country tour featuring Hayden Panettiere (Juliete Barnes), Clare Bowen(Scarlet O’Connor), Charles Esten (Deacon Claybourne), Sam Palladio (Gunnar Scott) and show producer, Connie Britton (Rayna Jaymes) could show up in a city near you.
The songwriters credited are John Paul White and Hillary Lindsey. What makes this interesting is Nashville can be the show for new singing talent like the reality competitions, while not being compared to Glee, whose chart success comes from covers.
The Nashville soundtrack releases on December 11th and can be pre-ordered now.
