Natural Help for Excessive Sweating

Dear Dr. Mitch:drmitch

I stink! That’s right, everyday my armpits sweat like crazy and the odor that follows is embarrassing.  I tend to find myself using the best deodorant/antiperspirant 3-4 times a day to get away from turning people off.  What should I do, Dr. Mitch?

Dear Not So Smelling Great:

Baring in mind there are no other issues, most of the time, the odor is secondary to an overgrowth of bacteria in a moist, dark area which supports this problem.  Using antiperspirants only clog your pores and can worsen this situation.  Products, for example that have aluminum can easily move through the open pores in the armpits (axillae) which are always producing fluid.  The aluminum (alum) can pass the blood-brain barrier, and as you probably have learned in the past, can cause cognitive (brain) decline.
There are natural remedies I recommend to my patients like taking the mineral zinc, 30-100 mg per day, which has been known to reduce the odor, while cleaning the axillae with a good non-bacterial soap twice a day, drying the area thoroughly, then using a natural antibiotic like silver gel,   (Check out Sovereign SIlver Gel at www.drmitchshow.com) and then finishing with a drying cornstarch (preferably organic) powder.  This combination may alleviate your problem.  If the sweating is excessive, Botox has been used for short term relief, but the question is whether or not this toxin in your body is in your best interest long term.  New lasers, however, have shown in just two treatments to decrease the fluid producing glands but I would still caution you since these are new and long term adverse problems, yet to be discovered, may occur when one stops their glands from working properly.
Interestingly enough, about one in every 50 individuals has the gene that stops that person from having any odor.  For those of you reading this blog, you could be one of these people and not realize it and use these products unnecessarily.  Consider the three things I’ve suggested above, and after several weeks if you are still unhappy, you are of course welcome to write back to me at  drmitch@drmitchshow.com and I will give you other information that may be able to help.

Look good, feel good and have great sex!

I honestly don’t know what to make of this woman. Such poor judgment for her kids! She is such an ice queen to everyone. I think she knows she has tarnished her brand and she isn’t the smartest woman on these shows. Whatever her reason for this…..she just looks stupid and desperate and makes me question just what kind of mother she really is.

As always, great advice from Dr. Mitch. Common sense mixed with a little bit of research will go a long way for this person. The cornstarch remedy really does work – particularly for sweaty feet. Thanks!
