Dear Dr. Mitch:
I’m a 38 year old female. I was wondering what I can do about this terrible case of Psoriasis that I have had for years. The medications don’t seems to be working. Are there any natural things I can take? I love your show!
P.G. Pennsylvania
Dear P.G.:
This skin condition has been quite a source of embarrassment for many people. Lesions can often times be unsightly. This is what I use on my own patients but check it with your doctor first. Find out all of your hormone levels with your doctor (you can find the list of what I recommend at my website www.drmitchshow.com under hormone panel). Depending on the results you have discussed with your doctor, you can use supplements like Zinc and Safflower Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Sovereign Silver, a probiotic, a multivitamin like Dr. Mitch’s Multivitamin, Vitamins D3 and E, and DHEA can all help!
If you live nearby the ocean get into it, with all lesions submerged at least 3 times a week, for at least 20 minutes. Sunlight will also help for about 20 minutes per day. Switch to all organic soap as well AND stay away from fried and fatty foods in your diet. For a more complete generic accounting of how to use these supplements write to me at drmitch@drmitchshow.com and place in the subject line PSORIASIS. I would be happy to send you what I recommend to my patients who most of the time get great results for this condition.
Most of these products can be found on my website www.drmitchshow.com or a good health food store!

Thank you, Dr. Mitch! I too have psoriasis, the patches on my elbows can get pretty ugly at times, and I get tiny patches on my lower legs. Every year, I sunbathe (not too much; a couple hours per time a couple times a week for about five weeks), and also swim in the ocean when the water warms up. The combo, especially the sun exposure, works like a charm.
