I’m so excited for the fifth season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Favorites are returning: Nene “I’m rich bitch” Leakes, Kandi Burruss, Phaedra Parks, Cynthia Bailey and Kim Zolciak-Bierrman. Bravo has added two women who seem to be explosive to the group – Kenya Moore and Porsha Stewart. Bravo dropped Sheree Whitfeld. Some may mourn the loss of Ms. Whitfeld, but over the five seasons, Ms. Whitfeld seems to be the only one who didn’t have an entrepreneurial endeavor popping off before the end of the season.
The audience has been slightly introduced to the new housewives – Kenya Moore and Porsha Stewart. The previews for Kenya have been more prevalent, showcasing her brashness as she helped Cynthia “critique” models for the Jet Magazine photo shoot. Being an actress, former Miss USA and former Jet model, has given her experience, but doesn’t seem to have given her any tact. She rips through the models without any respect for the models or Cynthia’s staff.
Porsha is married to former NFL superstar – Kordell Stewart and like that, Bravo adds an actual housewife to the cast of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Having been married less than a year when the filming started, the couple opens their lives to cameras to show how marriage works. Porsha has become the mother to Kordell’s 9-year old son. She will probably be portraying her vocal talent on the show as she likens her singing ability to Beyonce. I was not able to find audio from her singing the National Anthem at the Magic City Classic on October 27, but no news in this case, is probably very good news. She’s also a philanthropist, starting the Kordell & Porsha Stewart Foundation for Cancer Research.
Kim’s role in this season is rumored to be greatly reduced because of her pregnancy with Kash Kade, who was born in August. She and husband Kroy Bierrman welcomed their second son together and the fourth child in their family. Kim might be leaving behind the world of wigs since her launch of Viva Moscato wines with Viva Brands USA. The promo shows that Kim will have to move out of her house quickly, after possibly being evicted. Kroy seems calm about it, so we’ll have to see what happens. I will have to say that pregnancy and her cessation of smoking has really made her skin shine. She looks great!
Cynthia returns as The Bailey Agency is getting some national attention and prominent placements. Her portfolio now includes brands such as Jet, Sean John and Macy’s. The rocky start of her marriage to Peter seems to have calmed down, but ultimately we’ll see as the season progresses.
Phaedra is expanding her funeral home to include services for pets – because she would otherwise be limiting herself. She also seems to be in production of a new stun gun. The real story line here though is that the promos allude to a steamy situation (or situations) between Phaedra’s husband Apollo and new housewife Kenya. Apollo claims to be constricted in his marriage – no longer having fun or carefree. Is Kenya helping Apollo be free?
Kandi has launched her adult toy line called Bedroom Kandi and a weekly Ustream feed of her show Kandi Coated Nights. Romance is in the air, as Kandi finds a love connection after losing her previous finance in a tragic way. There’s a marriage ceremony this season, is it hers?
NeNe’s acting career has taken off. Previously starring in a reoccurring role on Glee, she has landed a regular role on the new NBC comedy, the New Normal. The mist must be spraying off of Kandi’s love affair onto Gregg because he’s back in love with his lovely NeNe. The promos show him throwing himself at his ex, and her not exactly turning him down. Can’t wait to see if this romance is rekindled.
