Revolution-A Catch Up

Revolution is one of the best new shows on TV.  It airs Mondays on NBC at 10 Eastern.

Instead of trying to summarize a bunch of episodes for you I will give you what I think the important facts are, I apologize if they kind of skip around.

Revolution centers around a girl named Charlie Matheson who is trying to get to her brother Danny.  Danny has been captured by the Monroe Militia.  The show is set in the future, a future without any kind of technology or electricity or anything.  The pilot episode begins with the Matheson family Rachel, her husband Ben and their 2 young children, Danny and Charlie. There is obviously something going on as Ben is trying to get some computer files onto what seems to be a USB drive.  The lights start flickering and Rachel says something to her husband along the lines of “This is it, right?” as he makes a phone call to his brother, Miles.

Miles is in the military and driving when he receives the phone call.  His car starts doing something funny and then the call is dropped.  Miles is with his best friend Sebastian Monroe.  (Fun fact the actor playing Miles Matheson is Billy Burke, aka Charlie Swan.  He is way different in this show than he is in the Twilight Saga).

I know I thought that Rachel was dead based on the pilot episode.  They allude to her and Ben living with a British woman named Maggie.  Ben is shot by the Monroe Militia and they take Danny instead.  But before Ben greeted the militia, he gave the amulet/usb drive to his friend Aaron, a former Google big wig.  Charlie was out in the woods “hunting” when all of this happened, but she gets there before her father dies. He tells her to go to Chicago and find her uncle Miles.

Maggie and Aaron insist on going with her.

Maggie ends up dying. Her back-story is very sad.  She was on a business trip in Seattle from England and has been separated from her sons since the power went out.  She met up with Ben and kind of took on Danny and Charlie as adopted children.

There is a random scene where we are at Grace Beaumont’s house.  She has a working computer and the same pendant that Ben gave to Aaron.  This makes me wonder if Ben also had a computer.

Captain Neville, the guy who took Danny, is a very interesting character.  He is nice sometimes and you get a glimpse of what he was like before and other times he is a major a-hole.  He seems to like Danny but Danny is not a fan.

Through flashbacks and other characters we learn that Miles was an integral part in forming the Monroe Militia, which is run by his best friend or former best friend, Sebastion Monroe.  People HATE Miles and the militia is looking for him.

We also learn the Rachel is not dead, and that Sebastian is keeping her with him.  He plans to use Danny as a pawn to get her to tell him everything she knows about why the lights went out.  When she sees Danny for the first time in years, she ends up spilling about the pendant/USB.

At the same time we learn the Captain Neville is the father of Nate, a militia member who seems to have a romantic interest in Charlie.

Uncle Miles has a hard time getting close to his niece.  Oh and he is a killing machine.  There is an amazing scene where he killed a bunch of guys single handed.  He is the one who trained the militia, which is why they are so deadly.

Regular citizens are not allowed to have fire arms.

There is a rebel faction who want to bring back the United States.

Grace Beaumont’s house had power for a little bit while Maggie and Aaron are there, it was very strange, but it was sweet because Maggie was able to turn on her iPhone and see a picture of her boys.

‘Revolution’ returns on Monday 29 October/NBC  ‘Sex And Drugs’
