Sisterhood’s Pastor Brian Lewis is speaking out, he regrets doing the show. As I said in my article the other day the show appeared to me to be another Housewives hiding behind the cloak of Christianity and the church. Brain states in a recent interview that he’s “heartbroken by how they manipulated editing” (why does everyone blame editing?), he’s basically claiming that the producers and TLC edited everything Godly out of the show.
Brain believed that he was ready to be on the show, but after watching the first episode he was heartbroken by what he’s seen, heartbroken by what he’s seen in the other cast members, and he feels the “show is not even suitable for children.” That’s a mighty bold statement from a someone who’s bound by contract to the network and production company. Statements like this can put him in breach of contract. Typically contracts contain non-defamation clauses, basically talent is not permitted to badmouth the show or other cast members, in one fell swoop Brian has taken out Sisterhood and his cast-mates.
He’s sorry for doing the show, wants to publicly repent and did not know how these other people would behave or act. Brian wasn’t prepared for “Christians to be backbiters, rumor mongers and gossips, not Pastors not First Ladies. Hello? Have you not hung out after church and been witness to the gossiping, backbiting and rumor mongering that goes on? Let’s not forget that Pastor’s and First Ladies are people too!
He had such high hopes for the show, but he’s at a loss and has felt that the show is an abomination. He realizes the people behind the show are not in the soul winning business, they’re only there to make money and it’s not an accurate representation Christianity.
The reason for he and his wife Tara being fired from their church was because the church elders didn’t want them to be part of the show.

He states this and I’m sure he will be signing up for another season to fit his lifestyle. Most shows only offer people a one season contract so if he wants to not return next season he does not have to. If wild to see the day when the church continues to parallel the world instead of be an example for the world. “Beware of false prophets”
If he is so upset by the show, why is he promoting it on his personal website? Not only is there a write up about it, but there is even a link to the TLC page.
I think the show should stay true to what people thought it would be. We don’t expect to see all bad. First ladies are not perfect, no one is, but it seems to focus on drama. Remove Domonique from the equasion. We see enough of backstabbing and drama from the other shows. Let’s just see the real lives of the first ladies! Every show doesn’t have to be fighting with each other. Don’t they help others? Have issues with their families? Show us how Tara and Brian afford their lifestyle without jobs. There’s a lot of potential show content that doesn’t have to be about a woman who pretends to be a first wife
Ed, this is very, very interesting. He knew what he signed up for — but seeing the reality (pun shamefully intended), he was distressed. Ed, this is a great, and serious discussion topic: the “reality” of what the “stars” for a lack of better word do — and what they see, ie, the edited version. The difference between what they remember during taping and what they see regurgitated in the aired episodes.
I am beginning to feel that although the key central characters (ie “stars’) remember doing/saying/responding/opining/reacting to a particular stimulus or situation … is vastly different when played back in the cobbled-together, edited, packaged version.
Somewhere in that middle ground is the truth. Now, how to mine it and present it without the oversight rules/governance of the production company and network?
Perhaps you can grow TVFishbowl.com to actually be that number-one source of first-person commentary from the reality show participants.
I am so shocked by this article. People with attitudes like he & his wife are the reason it’s so hard to get people in church these days. His wife is “catty” and “gossipy”, but I guess they think it’s okay if they put “Amen” behind it. They appear to be so phony & I literally cringe each time I hear Brian & Tara’s voice; lately I just fast forward my DVR or mute the TV, just so I will not hear the ridiculousness that always comes out of their mouth. They think that they are better than those around them. I would not ever dream of referring to either of them as “Pastor”, because their attitudes and behaviors are not properly reflective of nor portray, what the title stands for, so just call them Tara and Brian.
