While it may appear to some fans that Teresa Giudice is “in denial” about the legal problems she and Joe are facing, pal Jennifer Dalton says Teresa’s not taking the indictment lightly insisted the close friend in an exclusive interview with E! News.
“They’re not taking it lightly, but at the same time they’re doing their day-to-day. They’re spending time as a family,” said Dalton, who has known the Real Housewives of New Jersey stars for about five years and speaks with Teresa frequently. “They haven’t stopped doing what they do on a daily basis.”
Teresa and Joe Giudice were charged with bank fraud, bankruptcy fraud, conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, and making false statements on loan applications. Joe is also facing five counts of failing to file income tax returns on roughly $1 million in earnings between 2004 and 2008. The 39-count federal indictment was handed down July 29, 2013, the have pleaded not guilty on all counts.
Teresa and family hit the beach over the weekend, appearing to not have a care in the world. Teresa tweeted Monday that she and Joe would be making an appearance at Panagaea in Hollywood, FL this Saturday prompting fans of the show to question whether the Giudice’s were taking the indictment and the terms of the bail seriously. Teresa and Joe are currently free on $500,000 bail each, according to news reports The Real Housewives of New Jersey couple is not permitted to travel outside of the states of New Jersey and New York.
This isn’t the first time the Giudice’s have shown what appears to be a disregard for the law. Joe has been filmed driving on The Real Housewives of New Jersey while his driver’s license has been suspended. Giudice ‘s license was suspended for driving while intoxicated after he flipped his pickup in Montville, NJ, in January 2010. Joe 43, is also accused of and facing charges for using his brother Pietro’s identity in June 2010 in an attempt to obtain a driver’s license at the Motor Vehicle Commission office in Paterson, NJ. Obtaining a false driver’s license in New Jersey is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Joe has a trail date set for October 28th on these charges.
