Look up in the sky. A military helicopter with troops on board!
It took fire from below and crashed into the trees and the plume of smoke was seen by the traveling Andrea and Michonne.
Michonne investigated and found the dead and injured crew in the smoldering wreckage. Pick-up trucks approached, so she ran back to the bushes where Andrea was hiding, still sick as a dog.
The men went about checking the scene and killing approaching walkers. Michonne’s walking walker repellent kept them from being noticed, but then they became restless and started singing the walker song. A girl does what she has to do, so she cut their heads off in an attempt to avoid detection.
Except, someone noticed them from behind. It was Merle! Andrea faints.
She woke up blindfolded in a vehicle with Merle and the men. He’s sporting a metal prosthetic for his missing limb.
They arrived at a compound. You knew Merle was loving this! Michonne didn’t speak a word. A nurse hydrated Andrea and Merle got his interrogation time. He tells how he was found by this group. He asked about Darryl. The stories were told by Andrea of who died and how she was separated from the group. She thanked him for picking them up. Michonne finally spoke a line, “You had guns on us.”
The leader came in and Michonne asked for their weapons. He warned them of the dangers outside of their fortification. They learned from the Governor about death meaning turning, no matter what.
“Welcome to Woodbury”
A little town fortified with sandbags and heavily armed men. The women were in awe of the whole set up. Much better than Herschel’s farm by a long shot.
Andrea asked about the pilot and was told he was still being worked on by the medical staff.
In the daylight, it looked like Mayberry with guns. Men and women are milling around town, tending vegetable gardens and chilling on benches. Michonne is still lacking in words, but not on giving face. This place blew my mind! After the crap traps and dirt that Rick and crew have been dealing with, this place looked like Pleasantville.
Back in the MASH unit, the pilot told the Governor how things deteriorated at his post and their escape. The Gov made him a promise to find the rest of his men and bring them to safety.
In some laboratory type set-up, Merle told the Gov that he knew Andrea and how he was left in Atlanta. There was some kind of testing going on with walker bodies and the obligatory geek in glasses.
What is Governor really up to? Why is he helping everyone? I’m smelling a wanna be prophet.
Michonne, Andrea, Governor and the scientist share breakfast and discuss their walker philosophy. Not so much Michonne. Neither group is entirely trusting the other. Andrea shaded with words, Michonne shaded with the looks she doled out.
Governor ‘preached’ that humanity would rise again, without eating each other.
Michonne wanted her weapons. Governor said they should rest and that they may like what they see once they look around.
When the women were strolling the street alone, Michonne said she didn’t trust him. Andrea was willing to give the place a chance. Someone was watching and listening to them. Michonne walked away. She has way better people instincts than Andrea.
Governor finds Lt. Wells’ men. He told the troops what happened and that he was there to bring them to him. Then he opened fired and his pre-positioned goons in the bush took them all out. Merle being one of those goons. Gov bashed in the head of one of the soldiers with the glee of a serial killer. Spittle and drool flew out of his mouth.
Michonne and I were right!
The goon squad brought the military vehicles back to Woodbury. Gov hopped up on one and gave a speech to the town, informing them of the events of the past day. He claimed the soldiers were walker bait when they go there because they didn’t have walls. Smarmy creep.
Up in Gov’s pad, a woman was flopped naked and asleep in his bed. He looked at a picture of what had to have been his wife and child as he sipped a brown liquor. He then entered another room and sat in a leather chair.
In front of him were several aquariums filled with fluid and heads. Michonne’s walkers and the heads of several others filled each one. The head in the top aquarium? That of Lt. Wells.
Will the women find their way out of Woodbury? What’s happening at the prison? Did you miss Lori and Carl tonight?
This season is kicking Season 1 and 2 in the nads. I’m loving it.
